A Good Sport

Last Saturday Aaron entered a triathalon as a team with 2 other Jags. Aaron had the swimming stretch of the race and because he was a team not an individual he had to wear a pink swim cap. Poor guy. Not to mention a pink swim cap that was too small! But he was a good sport and did a great job. Their team came in 2nd out of the team entries...way to go!

The guy on the far left, Tom, did the whole race on his own and the other 3 were a team. I am sure there is some joke you could come up with about how many lawyers it takes to do a triathalon...but I am just not that witty!

A Little More on Jake

Love this face.
Jake playing hard to get with his friend Aubrey. He is so serious!
But really it is all just a game! Look at that grin when she is not looking...

Then, he discovered grass...

Just learning how to sit up on his own and doing so well!

Then comes the fall.

Jake at 5 Months!

Jake is now almost 6 months old and I feel the need to do an update on him. He had his 5 month bday while visiting family and life has been so busy since we returned that I find myself almost ready to do a 6 month update! But here is a quick note on his 5 month progress and I will do a 6 month one in a couple of weeks.

I have a favorite baby tool. I have had it since Noah was born and it has gone through 4 kids. I love it. If I had to pass on one thing to a new mom, this would be it!

I am not even sure what to call it. Maybe a bath ramp? bath bed? bath thingy? who knows. But one thing is for sure, it is the best when it comes to bathing a baby. It allowed me to lay my baby down in the water and have the use of both of my hands. No slippery baby to hold on to! Plus my babies could lay down in the water and just relax. All of my babies have loved their bath time and I am convinced it is because of this little gadget. Well, Jake has loved it for 5 months and the time has come for him to graduate to the next level of bathing.

As you can see, he loves it! He is thrilled to be able to splash in the water and gets so excited every time I start filling the bath. So farewell to my favorite baby tool. We are moving on!

Before leaving on our trip, we tried starting Jake on baby cereal. He was not a fan! In fact, he hated it.
But once we returned, we tried again and had better success. It is a very messy ordeal every time he eats. But he is getting better at keeping his tongue and the food in his mouth. If only I could teach him to keep his toes out of his mouth while eating, we would be set!

Jake has mellowed out a lot and is entering a very fun stage! He laughs a little, but for the most part is a very serious little guy. He is still a mamas boy and I am thrilled about that.

His cousins loved playing with him and holding him while we were visiting. It was so nice to have lots of extra hands!

So at 5 months, Jake is still the funnest toy around the house. The kids still love him and are constantly wanting to hold him and play with him. He is getting a little bigger, but still remains pretty small. He can still wear some of his 0-3 month clothes and weighs about 15 lbs. The rare moments of laughter are a treat and we just adore this sweet little boy.

Instant Friends

It was so fun to watch Lucy and her cousin Emily become instant friends. They loved having tea parties on Grandma's porch and just played so well together. Moments like this make me really wish we lived by family!

Butterflies!

Grandma Ogden had a great science project for the kids while we were in Utah. She had ordered some caterpillars and the kids were able to watch them turn into butterflies! Then we set them free while we were camping. The kids loved it. Thanks Grandma!

Bear Lake With the Ogden's

We had a great family reunion while we were in Utah. We went camping with all of Aaron's siblings and spent a day at Bear Lake. I did not get very many pictures of the camping trip as Jake was not the best camper and required a lot of attention from me. But I was able to get a few of our time at the lake. We had such a great time. Let's do it again next summer!

Tea Party at Grandma's

Grace and Lucy had so much fun with their cousins Samantha and Emily. We only get to see these cousins once a year and the girls have no trouble hitting it off immendiatly! They decided to have a tea party in the camping trailer that Grandma had rented for our family campout. So Grandma pulled out her tea set and the girls had a great time setting it up and enjoying their snack. We wish we lived closer to these sweet cousins. My girls just love playing with them!

Even a boy can enjoy a tea party like this! Nathan is such a cutie.

A Day To Remember!

June 28th 2008
Donnelly, Idaho
4:30 pm....no wait, 5:30.....no wait, 7:00...no wait,7:30....no wait 8:00

Actual Time : 8:30 pm

Noah was baptized by his Dad and it was an amazing event! His Grandma Ogden and Grandma Bird both gave talks that were so sweet and his cousins helped out with the special musical number. And best of all, he was baptized in Grandma Bird's pool!!

They clean up nice, don't they?

It was so great that we
were able to share this special day with both sets of grandparents. Aaron's parents came all the way from Salt Lake City and my parents were gracious enough to host the whole event at their home.

So here is why the time for the baptism kept changing....

what are they waiting for??

The Cows!

My Dad spent the day down in Boise branding his cattle. It took a little longer than he expected and so we had to keep moving the time for the baptism until the cows had arrived!

Once it was all over, the kids headed to the pool for swimming and dessert!

After all that excitement over the cows and the baptism, we had 1 more event to celebrate that evening. The birth of a new calf!

What a busy day. But so fun and so exciting! We will always remember this special occasion. How could we not with all the excitement??

Birthdays

Noah and Grace celebrated their birthdays just a few days before our vacation. Noah turned 8 and Grace turned 6!

They both chose an ice cream cake from TCBY ( best thing I have ever done for bday cakes! )
Grace had a Glam Party! Ms. Glam came to do hair make-up and manicures. She even gave all the girls a beauty mark!
Grace and all her friends looked so beautiful! Jake got a kiss from the birthday girl and it left a nice mark on his cheek!
For Noah's birthday, he and 3 friends went to a Fun Park to play laser tag and golf. They also had hot dogs and ice cream for dinner! I don't have any pictures of this event because Aaron took the kids to the party while I stayed home to pack! But there will be more to come later on Noah and his baptism.

We're back!

So much has happened in the last few weeks and I am finally ready to sit down and blog it all! It may take a few days to get it all on here, but I am looking forward to re-living our great vacation! So with all of my pictures and videos downloaded onto my computer, and a disk with 1,165 pictures on it (yes, 1,165 pictures!) I will try to show you a glimpse of 2 weeks of heaven!
